Leeds 18 Plus Group - History

The new Leeds 18 Plus Group was launched in January 1996. meetings took place every Tuesday at the Three Legs Pub, The Headrow, Leeds, (meetings now take place at The Victoria Hotel, 28 Great George Street, Leeds.

Leeds come up clubs

1 am pleased to announce that Leeds 18 Plus had their launch on Tuesday 9th January 1996 at the Three legs. Both myself and Glen Anderson had been running around like headless chickens trying to get things organised. Most of the Committee turned up at 8 p.m. to set up notice boards, programmes and Plus News, (we also displayed a copy of the. Bush Telegraph).

The evening started at 8:30 p.m. We played some music, John Smith did an event to get people mixing and we showed the National 18 Plus Video. We had six prospective new members down and we would like to thank Bradford Group, Andrew Wilkinson and Paul Williarns for their support on the night. 1 would also like to thank the rest of the Leeds Committee for all their efforts, (lets keep it up).

We spent about £150 on two adverts, one in the Leeds Weekly News and one in the Yorkshire Evening Post. and we were very pleased that both were equally successful. So it just goes to show that people do read the papers and yes even the freebies!
