Hello there - how are you doing?

At the May Conference, one of the things that was discussed as needing urgent action was communication between Groups; with that in mind, I have set up this new e-mail address escpecially for 18 Plus contacts.

Through this link, I can let you know of Group, Area and National happenings a lot quicker than before - this will include details of potential new members, new events and any other juicy titbits.

And it works both ways. Please let me know of anything you want to find out or pass on to other groups - I'll do what I can.

Right - to bring you up to date :-

Groups.

Stockport Group has elected to become a Second Tier Group with effect from Mid-July, to be known as Stockport Quest, while Grimsby and Cleethorpes Group has also elected to become a Second Tier Group with effect from mid-August, to be known as Lincs Quest. Please give these new groups all the help they ask for, as well as invites to all events you intend to run.

On a sadder note, Chester Group has elected to close down after 41 years of running. All current members have been offered the chance to transfer to another Group or become Direct Members.

Events.

Costings and availability are still being worked out for the 2003 National Narrowboat Holiday, to be held 7-14 June next year. As soon as we have confirmed prices, we'll let you know.

The details of Linda Street Trophy Rounds 1 and 2 will be out shortly - please support this competition in strength.

As a result of the re-constitution of Grimsby & Cleethorpes Group, there will be NO Sandcastles event - don't worry, we're looking at alternative ideas.

National.

The next NEC weekend is coming up in late-July: if you have any issues you wish me to raise with the National Council, please let me know ASAP so it can go on the agenda.
