Hello everyone, here's the latest e-chat. We only managed to have a short Area Committee meeting this week as the Area chairman arrived late, so we'll be having another next week.

Northern Area 18 Plus on-line Forum

Robert Jones has set up a Message Board that he has kindly made available as a Northern Area Forum, this will be for 18 Plus members only to discuss matters 18 Plus. Hopefully this will improve communication and encourage more interaction. We'd very much like to know members' views.

Starting with this e-chat I will be including the headings as topics on the Forum, hopefully this will encourage some feedback on what we are trying to achieve.

Please pass on this information to any members who have access to the internet, we'd like as many members as possible to join and participate.

National 18 Plus Events

Inspire

As you know this year's national 18 Plus learning event was "Inspire", it also includes a Ceilidh dance in the evening.

Myself Robert Jones and Janet Rintoul attended, we were also happy to see members of Northwich Group who had ventured out to the ceilidh dance.

Rothwell 18 Plus events

Canal Cruise

Rothwell 18 Plus Group organized a canal cruise starting at Uppermill, Staleybridge on August Bank Holiday Saturday. A very generous BBQ was included and the cost was just £15.

Rothwell Group are considering running this event again next year, so watch this space!

Ten Pin Bowling & Disco

The Northern Area 18 Plus Ten Pin Bowling Competition is to be hel at UK Superbowl, Leeds Road, Huddersfield HD2 1UL and the Disco afterwards is at The White Cross Inn, Bradley Road, Huddersfield HD2 1XD. These events take place on Saturday October 23rd.

Christmas Dinner Dance 2004

Midland Area 18 Plus are organizing a Dinner Dance for Christmas (December 4th), and have invited Northern Area. The venue is Kilworth Springs Golf Club, South Kilworth Road, North Kilworth, Lutterworth LE17 6HJ. The event starts at 7:30 and entertainment will be provided by a Comedian and a D.J.

War of the Roses

Following discussion at the Area Committee meeting we've decided that this event would attract a better attendance if held on Sunday so the date is now Sunday October 3rd. The venue is O'Neill's, Great George Street, Leeds.

Area Committee meeting

The next meeting of the Area Committee is on October 26th at Robert Jones' place starting at 7:30 p.m. If anyone not on the Area Committee would like to attend then please get in touch with Robert as he needs to know if he needs to get more mugs! (for tea or coffee).
