AMMO weekend 1997 |
Extract from the Alyve magazine, July 1997. The AMMO weekend was held on Mersea Island for the second year, and Yorkshire Area 18 Plus had members from Leeds, Doncaster and Barnsley present. After raining for weeks , the weather picked up and some people even got sun burnt. A pat on the back to Leeds 18 Plus Group for finishing in their best ever position in the Annual Mad Mini Olympics, 15th out of 29 teams. The events used things like a bouncy castle, bungie ropes and the unheated swimming pool. For your information, the games were won by Brentwood 18 Plus Group. The parties were excellent and included Mick (Leeds 18 Plus) getting his head shaved for the Children in Need Appeal. He also cycled all the way there from Leeds, a distance of 244 miles taking 3 days! Well done Mick! All in all it was a brilliant weekend, hopefully more Yorkshire teams will enter next time - who knows, one of them might win!! Glen Anderson - Leeds 18 Plus |
