HUDDERSFIELD 18 PLUS
GO-KART GRAND PRIX 2000

The first annual Huddersfield 18 Plus Northern Area Go-kart Grand Prix took place on Sunday March 12th. The venue was the Huddersfield Indoor Karting Raceway, at Meltham Mills Industrial Estate, Meltham.

Drivers entered from 18 Plus Groups from all over the Northern Area, including Grimsby & Cleethorpes, Cheadle, Whitefield, Bradford and Leeds.

The Huddersfield Indoor Karting Raceway has over 285 metres of driver testing track, electronic lap timing and positioning was unfortunately out of order on the day of our Grand Prix. The karts are Honda 160 cc models, and it is alleged they attain up to 40 mph down the longest straight.

The Go-kart Grand Prix consisted of five practice / warm up laps, then five seven lap Heats followed by four seven lap Finals with the fastest drivers from the Heats going through to the A Final, and the slowest competing in the D Final. The Winner of each Final received a Trophy, the winner of the A Final trophy was for overall winner.

The top three drivers in the A Final, therefore the overall winners were;
	1st Neil Caldwell Whitefield 18 Plus 2nd Paul Williams Huddersfield 18 Plus 3rd Ashley Coffey Bradford 18 Plus
Winners of the other three Finals were as follows;
Group B Final David Ogden Cheadle 18 Plus	Group C Final Mark Dobson Rothwell 18 Plus	Group D Final Edward Bottomley Leeds 18 Plus
The highest ranking female driver was Hazel Bramhill of Grimsby & Cleethorpes 18 Plus Group, she was sixth overall.
